I’ve already flailed about this over on tumblr. I’m not even halfway through listening. I just wanted to say thank you! Thank you for this.

I’m not stranger to fandoms or fandom podcasts but BBC Sherlock seems to be home to the most unique and talented group of fans, writers and artists I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. It’s also been the hardest fandom to be part of. WE ARE THE WAITING! This podcast will surely ease some of the pain.

    Back to listening, now.

-Alicia (also known as Cloama to most of the internet)

  2. Bless you all for this!!! There can be life (and podcasting) after HP.

    Sincerely,

A very enjoyable podcast! It had a balanced sampling of fan topics and was just plain fun. I’ve listened to Mugglenet’s podcast before and this reminded me of that. It will be nice to have a place to “meet” as a fandom community, especially during this waiting period.

I particularly enjoyed the author interview segment and her insights into how the fandom and fans construct their own meanings. In acting, the word actors use to describe their inner life and motivations is subtext, and yes I like that authors explore that too. That’s one of the things I love about reading fanfic. (What’s fun for actors is that while good ones take the time to create this, an actor doesn’t have to share this information with anyone. But fellow actors can play off it and audiences benefit from watching an actor’s reactions. I’m thinking of that scene in Kitty’s apartment and the look Moriarty gives Sherlock and then Sherlock’s glare back.). I also loved the topic of gifs and how authors can create meaning from even the briefest of interactions.

The section on sorting Sherlock into an HP House was a funny and brilliant fan crossover idea. I felt like I was part of the discussion just listening. Will you be taking audience questions or input if you know the topic in advance?

I also liked the rec section from Holyfant. Will you take audience recs as well?

*claps* Anyway, kudos to all of you for a job well done. I look forward to more.

  4. This was such a wild ride! Every segment was fascinating in its own specific way and made me proud to be in a fandom of such depth and brilliance. For my taste, there’s no limit to how complex or controversial or cerebral this podcast can or should go. It’s so satisfying. And I love the shameless joy of it all. Especially Dixie saying “Oh god, yes.” Yes, yes and yes. Thank you guys for your tremendous hard work.

  5. Mo says:

I was excited to try this, but immediately it was stated that this fantasy of making up homosexual relationships for shows where there’s zero basis for doing so was going to be part of it. I’ve never been able to fathom why this is such an obsession for female fans regarding male characters. (I have no idea whether males do this regarding female characters.) How tiresome it is to see it everywhere, in every fandom.

Thank you for stating it up front.

  6. Tealightwhimsy says:

As with Snapecast, I find your balance of purely fun squee and intelligent conversation most enjoyable! Thank you for putting this together!

  7. Just popping in to say this is the most brilliant thing I’ve seen in a while, and thank you so much for coming up with this idea. I loved podcasts since the Baker Street Babes, and I’m glad there are other people doing this as well. It’s just so wonderful to listen to other fans, using a different attack. So kudos to you all!
